Cleethorpes

By Sue Tildesley on April 7, 2018

We left the CL and headed down to the Humber bridge and into Lincolnshire. On the coast again we skirted round Grimsby, and on to Cleethorpes. Somewhere else I’d never been. I thought Cleethorpes was quite nice, we stayed at s campsite next to the show ground, and the light coastal railway station. The fare was £5 return or £3 to the  leisure centre. The line was laid in 1909 and they still had carriages from that era, although the steam locomotive was quite recent. The signal box pub, puportedly the smallest pub on the planet is well worth a visit, if you can get in, it takes a maximum of about 10 people, and a dog, but there’s seating outside. There’s also a craft centre nearby, with people making things themselves and running workshops.
