So after I received a pinch and a punch, and retaliated with a pinch and a kick, I turfed the old man out of bed to turn the heating up. He got back in, and after a few minutes he said that there must be at least 4” of snow outside, “I thought it wasn’t supposed to snow here,” I said “well it has” he said. Umm I wanted to move on today as this site just wasn’t doing it for me. And, last night the owner couldn’t believe the field was so flooded as it’s never flooded for 17 years, well, I risk the wrath of Yorkshire folk everywhere and I’m not disparaging their county when I say it rains here, but it rains in Yorkshire.
Anyway, back to the snow, what would we do today, seeing as there was so much and it was still snowing heavily, I could hear it’s soft pattering in the roof, I even asked if that sound was the snow, “yes” he said. Worry, worry, worry, went I, until he said “April fool”.
we thought the best thing to do was console ourselves with a cooked breakfast, I didn’t want to be precious about our new van, so I started frying, unfortunately the sausages had frozen in the fridge, so as soon as the ice crystals hit the hot fat, it spat out all over seats. With Steve frantically scrubbing I decided to get rid of the cooking smells by lighting a candle under the oil burner, he’s convinced I’m trying to burn the van down, at which point it started raining again and the electricity went off. Sometimes I feel our life is an episode in a sitcom, but if it were the van would be ablaze by now.
Time to move on, we set off for Bridlington, which is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit, it sounds so nice. When we arrived at the site it was civilisation personified, no mud and sunshine to boot. We dug out the electric bikes and ‘cycled’ into Bridlington. It was cold, a bitter wind whistled last as we cycled first a mile or so in the wrong direction, then back again. We chained them up and walked along the prom, I’ve bever been so disappointed, I won’t say anything else, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I managed to buy another woolly hat as mine has gone missing, and I certainly needed it. We cycled back, and apart from me crashing into a fence, while walking the bike across the road, (don’t ask) everything was fine. It was cold though, and later it rained and rained and rained.
